Victory in Vietnam
We have many contacts from the Vietnamese underground church. Our team goes to Vietnam to train leaders and encourage the saints.
Since VBCI Thailand opened its doors, Vietnamese students have come to study the Word of God every year. This puts them, their families, and their sending churches at risk of imprisonment and other harsh repurcussions from the Communist government.
Many of those students are now planting churches across the nation, plowing the ground for religious freedom in Vietnam.
Religion
While Christians in Vietnam are allowed religious freedom under their constitution, many
believers are persecuted, imprisoned, and even tortured for their faith in Christ.
The vague language used in the Vietnamese legal system leaves many religious activities open to interpretation by officials. While Vietnam claims to have freedoms in line with
international standards, laws can be applied to whatever situation the government deems threatening.
Official stats are as follows: Buddhist 9.3%, Catholic 6.7%, Hoa Hao 1.5%, Cao Dai 1.1%, Protestant 0.5%, Muslim 0.1%, none 80.8% (1999 census from www.cia.gov). Unofficial statistics show Christianity is flourishing in Vietnam.
