Nepal

Victory in Nepal

Nepal opened up to us in 2004 when a nepalese pastor saw our website and contacted us. Since then, we've made annual trips into the nation to host Leadership Conferences. Though hungry for the Word, the Nepalese Christians have been largely isolated from the larger Body of Christ. Our goal is to connect with them, disciple them, train them up in the Word and teach them how to raise effective leaders in their nation.

Several Nepalese students are lined up to attend VBCI this coming school year.

On a more practical level, we raised support last year so we could bring much needed medicine, clothes, and as many bibles as we could carry to remote villages.

Religion

Nepal used to be the world's only Hindu kingdom. Official estimates state that there are around 400,000 Christians in Nepal; believers would put that number conservatively at over 1 million. If this number is accurate, Nepal could be experiencing the most dynamic period of growth in all of Asia.

While the constitution of Nepal allows religious freedom, it is illegal to evangelize.

Official stats are as follows: Hindu 80.6%, Buddhist 10.7%, Muslim 4.2%, Kirant 3.6%, other 0.9% (2001 census from www.cia.gov).
