Victory in China
A number of Chinese students have been trained at VBCI Thailand and are currently planting churches, involved in national aid programs, and advancing the Kingdom of God in their nation.
Religion
While China is officially atheist, religion has played a significant part in China's history since its inception. Taoism started in China as ancient folk religion; Confucianism began as a set of ethical standards; and Buddhism was introduced from India around 200 B.C. These became mixed with the beliefs of ancestor worship, and of "Heaven" as an omnipotent force.
The subject of China's Christian population is controversial. The government census estimates 10 million, but the CIA World Factbook indicates that about 3% to 4% of all the population in China are Christians, or 130 million Christians out of a total population of 1.3 billion people live in China today.
Between 1949 and 2007, indigenous Chinese Christianity has been growing at a rate unparalleled in history. Nicholas D. Kristof, a columnist of the New York Times wrote on June 25, 2006, "Although China bans foreign missionaries and sometimes harasses and imprisons Christians, especially in rural areas, Christianity is booming in China.
